The mixing equipment for asphalt manufacturing process is called asphalt mixing plant. Generally, there are two types of asphalt mixing equipment: asphalt batching plant and continuous asphalt plant. The continuous asphalt mixing plant process is simple and the equipment is simplified. As for the batch forced mixing equipment, due to the secondary screening of aggregate, various components are measured in batches, and forced mixing can reliably ensure the grading, and the measurement of powder and asphalt can also reach a fairly high accuracy. Therefore, the mixed asphalt mixture has good quality and can meet various construction requirements.

This post introduces the asphalt manufacturing process in detail by taking the batch type asphalt plant as an example.

Asphalt Manufacturing Process Stage I

Use a loader to shovel sand and gravel of different diameters of particles into the corresponding cold bin; The sand and gravel are measured by the volume of the belt feeder controlled by the frequency converter, and then transported to the dryer drum through the aggregate belt conveyor and the feeding belt conveyor.

Asphalt Manufacturing Process Stage II

The dryer drum dries and heats the sand and stone materials to a certain temperature by means of counter-current heating (the control system automatically adjusts the flame size of the burner). Due to the rotation of the drum, the sand and stone materials are repeatedly lifted and dropped by the blades in the cylinder to form a curtain, which enhances the heat exchange effect. With the help of the inclination of the drum, the sand and stone materials move forward continuously while heating.

After coming out of the drum outlet, together with the coarse powder collected by the gravity dust remover, it is lifted by the hot aggregate elevator and discharged into the hot aggregate screening machine. The high-temperature dusty flue gas discharged from the dryer drum first enters the gravity filter through the primary flue for preliminary purification, and the powder with a particle size of more than 0.075mm collected is sent to the inlet of the hot aggregate elevator by the screw conveyor.

Then the dusty flue gas enters the bag house filter, and the filtered flue gas is directly discharged into the atmosphere by the induced draft fan. The dust recycled from the bag house filter is sent to the reclaimed powder supply system by the screw conveyor for storage.

Asphalt Manufacturing Process Stage III

The hot aggregate is divided into several specifications through the screening machine, and then flows into the corresponding hot material storage bin. According to the set proportion, aggregates of different diameters of particles shall be put into the stone measuring bin for cumulative measurement in batches in the order of small to large.

Meanwhile, the hot asphalt and the powder are put into their respective metering devices according to the set proportion. After weighing, put it into the mixing pot for forced mixing according to the preset sequence. The mixed finished material is discharged into the finished material lifting trolley, which is lifted by the winch and discharged into the finished product silo for storage, or directly discharged into the material handling dump truck.
